Special Events & Development Intern

$1,500 Stipend (payable at the completion of the internship in May 2025)

Position Summary
The Resource Development Intern at RMHC Maine will support fundraising and outreach efforts for one of Maine’s most impactful nonprofits. Guided by RMHC Maine’s Development Team, the intern will gain valuable insight into nonprofit development, event planning, donor stewardship, and administrative support. This role is ideal for students passionate about nonprofit work, event coordination, and community engagement.

Responsibilities
The intern be supervised by the Special Events Manager and will work on diverse projects, with flexibility to focus on areas of interest. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Event Participation and Support: Attend and engage actively in events, both onsite and within the community, gaining firsthand understanding of our community dynamics and donor interactions.

    • Event Coordination: Collaborate with the Special Events Manager and Development Director to support seamless fundraising events – our signature events and Community Fundraisers. Duties include pre-event logistics, participant and vendor confirmations, day-of event management, and post-event follow-up.
    • Industry Research for Continuous Improvement: Conduct research on nonprofit trends, providing insights to enhance RMHC Maine’s development policies and fundraising strategies.
    • Relationship Management: Engage with donors, volunteers, community groups, board members, and staff, cultivating relationships to strengthen RMHC Maine’s community network.
    • Database Administration: Maintain accurate records in our donor database, helping to track communications and enhance fundraising efficiency.
    • In-Kind Donation Coordination: Support in-kind donation and auction item procurement, maximizing contributions from our network of generous supporters.
    • Stewardship Communication: Participate in stewardship activities, thanking donors and gathering post-event feedback, fostering a supportive donor community.

Commitment
The internship runs from January to May 2025, with a potential extension through summer by mutual agreement. This role requires a commitment of 10 hours/week with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

    • Professional demeanor, strong organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, social media platforms, photography and videography a bonus
    • Comfortable meeting new people and communicating with media organizations
    • Interest in learning how to organize and run events

Housekeeper

$18 – $20 an hour

Position Summary

The part-time (20 hours per week) Housekeeper is responsible for the continuation of guest services through their primary responsibility of daily cleaning of individual guest rooms and guest bathrooms, as well as for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the House in which they work and ensuring the safety of residents within the House. Work is assigned and performed under the general supervision of the House Manager who sets direction, reviews completed work with the employee, and evaluates overall performance following the mission, policies, and procedures set by the organization.
