Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine is only able to continue operations in Maine with the robust support from our volunteers. Volunteers make our Houses feel like a “home-away-from-home.”
Gather your coworkers, family, or friends for a group service project!
Groups of fewer than 10 people are welcome to volunteer on-site with tasks like deep cleaning and special projects.
Have a group of 10 or more? We’d love to talk with you about remote volunteer opportunities that match your team’s interests and skills. Group volunteering offers a rewarding, team-building experience—while making a meaningful impact for the families we serve.
Please note: the group leader must be 18 or older.

When you walk into the kitchen of the Ronald McDonald House and a group of volunteers are preparing a home-cooked meal for the families, you can just smell the love in the air. It is the aromas of a home-cooked meal or freshly baked cookies, and so much more. It is comfort food that rejuvenates the mind and spirits of families coming home after a long, stressful day at the hospital caring for their loved ones.
(2-9 people)
While regular cleaning is part of daily life at the Ronald McDonald House, groups can make a big impact by helping with larger deep-cleaning tasks. Volunteers may assist with spring cleaning projects, deep cleaning guest rooms and common areas, reorganizing spaces, yard clean-up, or other special projects—depending on the current needs of the House!
Donating items like snacks, coffee, and cleaning supplies ensures we keep our programs stocked with all the essentials! We update our wish list every month to reflect what we are most in need of at rmhcmaine.org/wish-list.
All you have to do is set up a drop-off location and share with friends, family, and your community.
We love recycling for a cause! RMHC Maine is part of the CLYNK program where you can easily donate your redeemable cans and bottles at your local Hannaford and other participating locations. We also accept donations of soda can tab tops that we are able to exchange at local metal recycling plants for cash.

Looking for a meaningful group goal?
Rally your coworkers, congregation, or community group to raise $2,500 and adopt one of our 48 guest rooms in Portland or Bangor for a full year. Your efforts will help provide families with a comfortable, supportive place to stay. Your generosity will be recognized with signage in the room you sponsor.
We host fundraising events around Maine and volunteer support is crucial, we may need anywhere from 2-15 volunteers for each event. Special events are full of energy and exciting to be a part of. Tasks include setting up, assisting in carrying out the day, and cleaning up.
