21 Aug Celebrating the Success of the 2024 Red Shoe 5K Run & Walk

On August 10th, 2024, RMHC Maine held the Red Shoe 5K Run & Walk at Husson University, and we are thrilled to report that it was a resounding success! With 61 people pre-registering and a handful of additional runners and walkers joining us on race day, the turnout was incredible for our inaugural event.

The energy and enthusiasm of everyone involved made the day truly special. Thanks to the participation and generosity of our runners, walkers, and supporters, we raised over $11,000. These funds will directly benefit the families staying at our Portland and Bangor Houses, covering the cost of 110 nights of free accommodations. For families facing the challenge of a child’s illness, these nights provide not just a place to stay, but a vital source of comfort and support during an incredibly difficult time.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, whose support made this event possible. The funds raised through the Red Shoe 5K will support programs across the state, ensuring that families can stay close to their hospitalized children without worrying about the cost of accommodations.
