25 Jul Katahdin Trust Employees Raise $600 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Of Maine
Houlton, ME – Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Maine (RMHC) recently received $600 from funds raised by employees of a local community bank. “Once a month Katahdin Trust employees from our northern Maine, Greater Bangor and Portland offices can participate in our Casual Because We Care program,” explains Krista Putnam, Senior Vice President, Marketing. “Our employees were very pleased to donate to RMHC. They appreciate being able to support all that RMHC does to help families stay close to their children who are receiving life-saving treatments at nearby hospitals.”
Katahdin Trust employees can dress casually on the second Friday of each month in support of various non-profit organizations throughout Maine. Each employee that participates in Casual Because We Care Days donates a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to dress casually and wear jeans. Proceeds are sent quarterly to a pre-selected non-profit organization.
“We are so grateful to Katahdin Trust Company and their employees for hosting this fundraiser over the last few months in support of RMHC Maine and the children and families we serve,” said Alicia Milne, RMHC Development Director. “The services we provide at the Ronald McDonald Houses in Portland and Bangor would not be possible without the support of our community who host fundraisers throughout the year, like this one. Thank you to all the bank employees who participated in Casual Because We Care!”
Representatives from Katahdin Trust’s Broadway branch in Bangor recently presented the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine (RMHC) with a $600 donation. The money was raised by employees through the Bank’s Casual Because We Care program. Rebecca Smith, Katahdin Trust Branch Manager & Retail Services Officer and Jeni King, Head Teller, were on hand to provide Alicia Milne, RMHC Development Director with the donation.
About RMHC
Since 1983, Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Maine has provided comfort for the families of pediatric patients and supported programs that directly improve the health and well-being of all children through our core programs: Ronald McDonald House® Bangor, Ronald McDonald House® Portland, Ronald McDonald Family Room®, and RMHC Grants Program. At the Ronald McDonald Houses in Bangor and Portland, families find a welcoming smile from a friendly volunteer, a home-cooked meal to enjoy after a long day at the hospital, a good night’s sleep in a caring environment and receive the support needed to endure a most difficult time. Last year, 7,595 nights were provided to 652 families with 12 nights as the average length of stay. The cost of a family’s one-night stay at the House is $75; however, families are asked to contribute only $10 per night towards their stay. Over 74% of those families were unable to contribute due to mounting medical bills. No family is turned away due to inability to pay, ever.
