What it means to be a “Just for the Day” Volunteer

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine is only able to continue operations in Maine with the robust support from our volunteers. Our volunteers make our Houses feel like a “home-away-from-home.”

Volunteer positions that fall under “Just for the Day-Individual” are: Event Volunteering and Guest Chefs. All volunteers for these positions must be over 18 and vaccinated for COVID-19.

Guest Chef Volunteers do require some notice for the House Managers as all those volunteering within the House must complete a volunteer application, background check, and confidentiality agreement.

There is more flexibility around Event Volunteering, feel free to volunteer for a specific event or we can discuss upcoming ones with you!

Guest Chef Volunteer

Our Guest Chef Program provides a well-balanced meal to warm the hearts and bellies of families when they return from a long day at the hospital. This program is for individuals and groups with a current maximum of 1-3 volunteers at our House in Bangor.

• Volunteers provide food items needed to make the meal
• Food must be prepared and cooked in the House kitchen
• Cooking and cleaning supplies are available for volunteers at the house
• All volunteers must be fully vaccinated for COVID 19

Event Volunteer 

When we host fundraising events in the Bangor area, volunteer support is crucial! We may need anywhere from 2-50 volunteers for large and small events throughout each year.

Special events are full of energy and are exciting to be at. Tasks include setting up, assisting in carrying out the day, and cleaning up for fundraisers and events such as Parking for a Purpose, Auctions, Basketball Games and Banquet Dinners, etc.
