At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine, we provide strength and support to children and their families by keeping them together when they need it most. Your gifts allow us to bring hope and help to children who are sick through our programs and family-centered care.
Many of our supporters choose to support our future through planned gifts. Unlike cash donations, planned gifts are typically made from assets in your estate rather than from disposable income, and may come to fruition after your lifetime. Even people of modest means can make a difference in the lives of children by planning a gift.
Whether you would like to put your donation to work today or benefit us after your lifetime, we can help you find a charitable plan that meets your goals. With your help, we can continue to make children healthier and happier by giving families a home away from home.
There are many ways to consider leaving a legacy, including:
- Donate Stock
Gifts of eligible stocks/securities are welcomed and encouraged, and typically carry benefits not associated with gifts made by check, cash or credit card. Benefits include:
1. You avoid capital gains tax. Any gain is taxable if you sell stock or mutual fund shares yourself, but not if you transfer ownership to RMHC.
2. Your charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes is based on the full fair market value of the shares on the date the gift is made.
3. You receive credit from RMHC for the full fair market value of the shares, but the cost to you is only your original purchase price.
A bequest in your will or living trust lets you take care of loved ones first and make a remarkable difference in the lives of others.
- Retirement Plan Beneficiary
Naming us as a beneficiary of your retirement plan can help your heirs avoid double taxation while sharing your generosity with our families as well
- Life Insurance
The gift of life insurance transforms a modest investment into a much larger benefit both for you and for the families we serve.
We also respect that some donors prefer anonymity. We would invite you to let us know about your plans on a confidential basis in any case. This greatly helps us plan wisely for the future.
