PURSES WITH PURPOSE

PWP 2017 Banner

On the beautiful afternoon of June 1st, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine held their Purses with Purpose at The Woodlands Club to benefit the children and families we serve throughout Maine, New Hampshire and beyond.  The patio was filled with an array of purses from local designers to well-known such as Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Kate Spade, and more. Guests enjoyed browsing these delectable items while enjoying the beautiful view of the Woodlands Club Golf Course. The afternoon featured a live auction and program with heartfelt stories directly from families that utilized the House, as well as a delicious lunch.

Nearly 250 guests entered the Woodlands Club ready and willing to support our great cause of keeping families close while their children receive medical treatment. Robin Chibroski, Executive Director shares that “Our community is to thank for events of this scale, the volunteers and community members who not only put in hours to cover the House but to support our mission outside is truly incredible and we cannot say it enough that we truly appreciate all of you.”

The program began with a live auction featuring big-ticket items such as two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets, a beautiful Company C Lydia rug, and a private party at OBag for 10 friends.  In our 12th year of hosting this event, we enjoy and strive to not only raise essential funds to keep our doors open 24 hours a day all year long but the opportunity to feature new and add different local designers to our auction.

At each of our events, once we have shared the work we do and the communities we serve, we have a giving portion of our program that allows our guests to open their hearts and pockets for our mission. The generosity is incredible every single time we do this and it leads us to open our doors to even more families who have traveled long distances for their child to receive medical treatment.

A heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and those community members who donated items or volunteered their time to make this event a tremendous success! Over $51,000 was raised to benefit RMHC of Maine, whose programs include two Ronald McDonald Houses together offering 35 guest rooms to keep families close to their critically-ill children while they receive medical treatment and one Ronald McDonald Family Room at Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital providing respite for families within the hospital to have a snack, do their laundry, or just have a quiet few minutes to re-energize.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you next year!
